The Things of this earth

I want to challenge you today to think about the things of this earth that we as women get caught up in.

Beauty, Size, Appearance, influence, Riches, Accessories, Equality, Happiness, Comparison,
                                                   Beauty, Size , Appearance, Approval

Did I leave any out? Oh I forgot, Beauty, size, appearance.

I was driving down the road yesterday and a line from this wonderful old song came to mind-
"And the things of this earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace."

Strangely dim- I love this.  I remember when the things of this earth started to seem strange to me.
Instead of being my goals, or the things I found comfort in I started to see things in a new light.
Gods grace opened my eyes.  The things of this earth didn't have a hold on me anymore.
It was no longer about me.  Beauty, size, approval, fun,  these things lost there value in light of the truth I was learning.  What freedom this was. I remember asking when is this going to end?
I was already dreading the loss of this new found love because everything had left me disappointed eventually up to this point.  Well it has been ten years now and I can only say no greater joy have I found than to allow the things of this earth grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

His glory and grace- There is a peace and a beauty I had never understood until the Lord allowed me to understand the grace of Jesus Christ.

  I was talking with a Christian lady yesterday and we were talking about when we really got it. You know the day you quit calling yourself a Christian and realized the truth of what that really means.  The day you were able to understand that if you were to die and go to heaven and God asked why should I let you in you would know the answer.  Do you know that answer?

  This sweet new friend of mine shared how she was very involved in church and following the rules and checking her list to make sure she would be excepted into heaven someday.  She was always comparing her works with that of others.  She was always worried when she would break the rules, then this question was placed before her and she wanted so badly to know the answer.

There is only one right answer.  Jesus Christ
Romans 5:8-10
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this; while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from Gods wrath through him! For if, when we were Gods enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life.

There is nothing we can do to save ourselves.  Jesus paid the price through his death.  His blood has covered us and cleansed us from our sin and that is why we receive eternal life alone.  His grace is our ticket into heaven.  All we have to do is receive his payment by accepting him as the way.
This amazing grace is what allows the things of this earth to grow strangely dim.  His amazing grace that saved a wretch like me.  Gods great love for us in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus shines a new light on everything.  Its not about things of this earth it is about Gods great love!

We have been reconciled to God through Jesus.  He remembers our sins no more.  This truth of his mighty love has changed my life.  This truth drives and motivates me each day now.  I am a new creation in Christ.  I will live out my days on tis earth sharing this amazing truth with anyone who will listen because it is the truth. Its not about beauty, appearance, approval, or size ladies. God is real and his ways are true and he wants us to be reconciled to him today and all our days.  He wants us to know his mighty love and be clothed is his righteousness.

The things of this earth will grow strangely dim when you know this truth and there is no better way to live then in Gods truth.
